Block Account Pricing

A block account is an account that you refresh as you use up your allocation. Blocks are available in 4 sizes: 8GB, 15GB, 30GB, and 100GB.

A block account is not limited in download speed from the Octanews NNTP servers.

Headers do not count towards your byte allocation. You are free to download as many headers as you need, only article bodies are counted towards your byte allocation. Posting of articles does not count towards your byte allocations.

Blocks are purchased as you need them. When you run out you then buy another, or you are welcome to buy a few blocks at once. These blocks will be invoiced separately and the charges may be combined on your credit card statement . Think of these blocks as candy bars, they will always be waiting for you to use them but once use them up they are gone.

Word of warning - block purchases are not refundable, please see the Refund Policy link for more detail. Just like the candy bar above...

Speedcapped Account Pricing

A speedcapped account does not restrict the number of bytes you can download, but the speed at which you can do so. Header download speed for the 3 upper tiers is not speedcapped while the lower tier has header downloads speedcapped at 2*rated speed.

A speedcapped account is an unlimited account in terms of # of bytes downloaded and the amount of time you can stay connected. You can download as much as you want for as long as you want with a speedcapped account.

These accounts auto renew each month. If you wish to not have it auto renew you need to email billing@octanews.net and tell us what you would like to do.
